About myself

You would wonder how I look like at the moment. Well, everyone usually says I look so much younger than my age. I am 24 years old, and 18 is the number that people usually think. I think this is "bad" because my parents always say this. A lot of awkward situations actually created from my look, but I don't fell "bad" about this at all, I just think I am still luckier than most people.

Continue with the people. They say that I am more mature than my age, and I think this is strange! Sometimes I believe in God, and I would say God took from me a mature look, but God also returned me a mature mind.

When I was younger and in high school, I was very shy and quiet, and I think I am different from my classmates. Because of this, It was hard for me to make friends, so I don't have many friends those time.

However, I would say that was also the advantage for me. I didn't spend much time with friends, so I have plenty of time to stay in my workshop, actually my bedroom! Now, you will wonder why this young boy that age need a workshop! I will tell you now. I used it to make machines, robots. Don't laugh! It's true.

My interest in machines and robots started when I was about ten years old. A friend gave me a toy's motor, and he let it works by connecting it to a small battery. I like it a lot, and a short time later, I even decided to buy his motor with all the money that I got.

I began to play with it by simply let it run by connecting to two poles of the battery. I noted if I swap the poles of the battery, the motor will rotate in the opposite direction. I realized this is so much fun than I expected. Later on, I began to make a circular saw using that engine. Then I started to collect more motors; then I made a toy car by myself. I didn't have internet or computer that time, so I just create myself a simple circuit that can control my little car such as moving forward, reverse, turn left or right.

Over the time, my experience enhances, and my creations became more and more complicated. When I turned 16, I started to participate some innovation competitions hold at my school. At my first competition, I won with a robot called the multifunctional robot (you can find some photos of this machine on the project page).

I when further, out of school zone. At 17 year old, I won the Second Prize in the physical field at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) in 2010 with the upgrade of my Multifunctional Robot. The same year, I continue to win Second Prize at the Lamdong Regional Science and Engineering Fair (2010) for a robot that helps people working in dangerous environments. After a few months, I continue won the Third Prize in the Creative Idea Competition in my province (2010) with my upgrade of the robot that working in the dangerous environment.

About the time when I turned to 18 years old, also the time I have to say goodbye to my family to go to the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology to study Mechanical Engineering. I lived in a small flat with some of my friends. I didn't have much time, tools and space to set up any new creations. Therefore, to fulfill my passion, I decided to join a robot club in my University. What we did is to custom-make machines for our customers, and we also develop robots to join many kinds of competitions about robots. When I work there, I have an opportunity to work with other people that have the same passion as me. It was very fun, and I had learned a lot. After about two years studying at my University, I realized the importance of studying oversea. Therefore, I was quick at my University.

The way to go oversea was not flat and easy for me at all. The first thing that I have to come over is the language barrier. It was hard for me because I can say I am not good at study the other language at all. It would take me a lot of words to expand why, so I will keep this for myself.

After all, New Zealand is the place that I choose to study. And my journey has just started now.

One of my favorite quotes from Steven Jobs that I usually use to encourage myself to keep working hard for my ideas without to be afraid of failures is "Stay hungry, Stay foolish."

Thanks again for taking your time to read this. I am very appreciated!
